DC Yoga Week provides free and $5 yoga classes to Washington DC area residents, giving them with an opportunity to enjoy different yoga classes at participating DC studios for one week each spring. Our mission is to promote the practice and enjoyment of yoga; to increase awareness of its benefits, which include increased strength, flexibility and relaxation; and to encourage greater physical health and well being in our community.
The highlight of DC Yoga Week is Yoga on the Mall (YOTM), a gathering of yoga enthusiasts near the Washington Monument, on the grounds of the National Mall, to participate in a free, collective outdoor yoga practice led by instructors from participating DC Yoga Week studios. Yoga on the Mall (YOTM) is open to all levels of yoga students, from beginners to advanced, and to individuals, as well as families with children. It is always a fun day out for everyone who participates, and a wonderful celebration of our growing yoga community!
DC Yoga Week 2010 will take place between Saturday, May 15-22, while Yoga on the Mall will take place on Saturday, May 15 between 1-5pm. This year marks the fifth anniversary of DC Yoga Week, and we have some great celebrations planned, including a special appearance by renowned yogini, Shiva Rea at Yoga on the Mall, followed by a post-practice free public concert of Kirtan music and African drumming .
For a list of participating DC Yoga Week studios, please click on the Participating Studios link here or at the top of the page. For the latest news about DC Yoga Week and Yoga on the Mall, please check back on our website, or follow us on Facebook and Twitter by clicking on the links below.
